News: Osun APC lacks economic ideas, says PDP

Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State, Ganiyu Olaoluwa

The Peoples Democratic Party has said that the ruling All Progressives Congress in Osun State lacked sound economic ideas required to move the state out of its financial crisis.

The PDP Chairman in Osun State, Alhaji Gani Olaoluwa, said this in a statement on Monday.

The party issued the statement to react to an allegation levelled against Senator Iyiola Omisore, who was accused by the APC of planning to cause mayhem through an economic summit in the state.

The Director of Publicity, Research and Strategy of the APC in the state, Mr. Kunle Oyatomi, had, while reacting to the summit, accused Omisore of planning to cause mayhem in order to destabilise the state.

However, Olaoluwa said it was sad that the ruling party had no idea of solving the problem confronting the state, and that the party was wrongly accusing the PDP who knew nothing about the summit.

The PDP statement read, “ It is unfortunate that the APC can be raising a false alarm and accusing the PDP wrongly after it demonstrated that it is bereft of ideas on how to lead Osun State out of the economic woes it brought the state .

“Those in the APC should bury their heads in shame because their government has grounded all sectors in Osun State. The state has never had it so bad since its creation.

“We in the PDP urge the organisers of the summit to come up with solutions that can take the state out of its present crippling state.”

Meanwhile, another group known as the Committee for Issue Based Politics and Good Governance, has called on security agencies in the state to prevent a possible breakdown of law and order by members of the PDP who it alleged was planning to unleash mayhem on the state.

The Coordinator of the group, Mr. Olanrewaju Afolayanka, said this in a statement made available to our correspondent on Monday.

Afolayanka claimed that the proposed summit was conceived to assemble undemocratic forces to create tension in the state, and to rubbish Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s achievements for cheap political gain.
