New: Jonathan’s supporters still bitter about Buhari’s victory – Keyamo

Festus Keyamo

Lagos lawyer, Festus Keyamo, says although the election season has ended, many supporters of President Goodluck Jonathan have yet to accept President Buhari’s victory at the polls.

Keyamo, who stated this on his official Twitter page on Monday, noted that recent criticisms of the Buhari government were not objective because many supporters of Jonathan were still in a bitter campaign mood against President Buhari.

He said, “Many supporters of former President Goodluck Jonathan are still in bitter campaign mood against President Buhari; there is no objectivity. But the elections are over and the results will not change if Buhari fails.

“President Buhari makes no move to probe public officials after one month in office and people complained. Now, he makes his first move with the investigation of alleged corruption by a former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.), people alleged that he was pursuing vengeance. What do we want?

“We need to decide. Do we want Buhari to cleanse the system by whatever means or we prefer a more tactical, deliberate, law-conscious Buhari?”

Meanwhile, an All Progressives Congress governorship aspirant in Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has decried underdevelopment in the state, describing the state as a weeping child of Nigeria.

Bello said the state needed visionary leaders to tackle the developmental challenges confronting it.

The aspirant said this in a statement on Monday.

He said, “Today, the wind of change is sweeping across Nigeria. Every facet of our lives is experiencing this positive change. The elusive dividends of democracy are finally reaching the people of Nigeria.

“Kogi State cannot afford to be left behind. Kogi State cannot continue to be among the worst performing states in Nigeria. Kogi State indigenes must take up the challenge to change the fortunes of the state. We must choose the right candidates to lead Kogi State in the next governorship election.

“The choice of who leads Kogi state for the next four years is very clear. We cannot continue to entrust our collective future to political cabals, people who have shown us that they cannot be trusted with the welfare of our people. What we need now in Kogi State are not mere electoral promises. What we need is a visionary. Someone who understands what governance is and has the political will to change the fortunes of the people of Kogi State.

“I want to lead Kogi State because Kogi State deserves a governor who has a well thought-out and structured development roadmap for the state. The era of paying lip service to development is over. Now we must walk the talk. We must be ready to back up our words with action. Now we must take our destinies into our hands. The choice is ours. We must choose wisely.”
