News : Siasia condemns imposition of candidates in Bayelsa

A governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party in Bayelsa State, Moses Siasia, has condemned the imposition of candidates in the politics of the state, saying only God and the people of the state would decide his victory and not political godfathers.

Siasia said since he declared his intention to contest the governorship poll, he had received   calls from some political elders in the state who vowed that no one could win election in the state except they gave their consent.

But the 35-year-old, who is a younger brother of Coach Samson Siasia, said only the people of Bayelsa had the power to choose their leaders.

He said these in a statement on Sunday.

“I am on the verge of making history with your help. With me, you can be assured that we will never have anyone dictating to me on how to run the state or who to allocate contracts to, and how the state funds should be spent. I assure you that we will retire all those who have dragged our state into the pit of poverty. We will liberate our people from suffering and hardship. If I am elected as your governor in December, the people of Bayelsa will become my godfathers,” he said.

The governorship aspirant said the governorship election slated for December 5 would afford the people the opportunity to end the imposition of candidates.

He said, “I want to sincerely reassure Bayelsa State indigenes that I have no godfather except God who is backing and sponsoring me on this rescue mission to create a sustainable future for our people.

“I have watched over the years as governors are imposed on our people and we still ask, when will our people get to choose who govern them?”
