Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose
Governors on the platform of the All Progressives Congress are perfecting strategies to oppose the nomination of Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, as the Deputy Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum.
It was learnt that members of the NGF who are scheduled to meet on Wednesday, ahead of the National Economic Forum meeting on Thursday, are likely to select a deputy chairman.

Naija4life: What is the relevance of the NGF to Nigeria? It is another avenue for looting the treasury. That is why they are always fighting for positions at the forum. What baffles me is the manner members of this forum abuse one another. It is unfortunate that people could go as far as insulting one another because of the decision of a few people to form an alliance for the purpose of looting the treasury.
Chudi: I hope the APC will not sow a seed of discord in the NGF, as they did to the National Assembly. If the PDP governors accept Zamfara State governor as the chairman, why should the APC reject Fayose?
John: The PDP should understand that they are no longer in power; they are an opposition party. What one expects when they have a slot to fill is that they will pick the best among them. They cannot continue in their old way because it will not pay them.
Domino: According to the NGF constitution, the deputy chairmanship is reserved for opposition parties. Any opposition party can fill it. It was because of this that Peter Obi of APGA emerged as the deputy chairman under Rotimi Amaechi. Olusegun Mimiko also occupied the position when he was in the Labour Party. So, I tip Gov. Willie Obiano of APGA for the slot. He is a complete gentleman, unlike Fayose.
Integrity: Fayose is a no-nonsense man. People like him are needed to checkmate those who want to take advantage of the masses. He is good for the growth of Nigeria’s democracy.
Cheky: The APC and the PDP are the same because all politicians are dishonest. I don’t like the PDP, but the APC is not better. The APC should not play its game and play for the opposition at the same time. APC plots against Godswill Akpabio becoming the minority leader; it is also blocking Fayose’s bid for the NGF vice chairman. If the slot is for PDP, they should be allowed to choose whoever they want.
Kwaran: The main reason our leaders don’t give back anything to the society is because they have successfully divided us along ethnic, religious and political lines. In my opinion, the APC and the PDP are the same. All thieves are the same, except that they use different strategies to rob. Those who had pillaged the country under the PDP are now stakeholders in the APC while they tell people that they have suddenly turned progressive.
As for Fayose, people think he should not have been a governor. But his people love him, which means there is nothing anyone can do about it. The masses must be fair in judgement otherwise the country will not change.
Person: There is certainly something wrong with us as a people. Why do we fail to see beyond our noses? We become staunch defenders of our political ‘heroes’ but that is for as long as they remain in the political parties of our choice. Once they move, we remember the same offences we defended them against. The leaders (or dealers) know this trick; hence, they take advantage of it. We should begin to relate with politicians individually. Until that happens, they will never take us seriously.
