Sokoto State Governor, Mr. Aminu Tambuwal
Sokoto State Governor, Rt. Hon. Aminu Tambuwal, has commended Fidelity Bank Plc for its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative in the state.
The governor lauded the bank while opening the Sokoto State Orphanage Home, which was renovated by the lender.
The renovation work, according to statement issued by the lender, was carried out by the bank’s staff under the aegis of the Fidelity Bank Helping Hands Programme, an arm of the bank’s CSR division.
Tambuwal said the practice was a viable tool in mitigating the social inequalities in the country, adding that such gestures were rare among commercially-driven organisations.
The statement quoted the governor as saying, “I must say that I am elated by the wonderful gesture from the bank. The project of this magnitude and its choice is an indication that Fidelity Bank is truly acting according to the script of empowering the good people of Sokoto state, and by extension, Nigeria.”
He reiterated that the bank’s action was a testament to the concern for the welfare of the people of the state, especially the less privileged in the society.
The Managing Director, Fidelity Bank Plc, Mr. Nnamdi Okonkwo, noted that the CSR was a way of life in the bank.
Okonkwo, who was represented by the Executive Director, North, Fidelity Bank, Mohammed Balarabe, attributed the growing culture of giving back to the society of the bank to the lender’s founding fathers.
The Fidelity Helping Hands Programme is the bank’s multi-purpose CSR vehicle set up primarily to give back to the communities where the bank does business.
